Computer Application has been included in the Commerce and Humanities stream in the Higher secondary course. The course code for Commerce with Computer Application is 39 whereas in Humanities group, Computer Application is available with the course codes 33, 34 and 44. 

Though Computer Application is a common subject for both the Commerce and Humanities stream, the syllabus for Commerce batch is different from that of Humanities. Still there are some chapters which are common to both the streams. 

Moreover the practical exam for the second year Humanities batch is also to be held further. Along with the covering of syllabus in the course book, to make the study and preparation process easier and effective, eminent Higher Secondary Computer teachers have prepared study notes for the Humanities batch students both in English and Malayalam. It is high time students completed intensive study in all subjects for their Higher Secondary Examination. It is sure that the quick revision notes would be much useful for the students to have a final reading of subjects as the exam is around the corner. The study notes in Computer Application(Commerce & Humanities) given here aim at quick revision for the Higher Secondary Commerce & Humanities batch students.

The students are advised to have a deep and detailed study in their subjects for securing the maximum score. The study notes are given here with the purpose of ‘last minute glance’ so as to make the students recollect what they studied and remind the key points to reproduce in the exam.

Plus Two Computer Application(Commerce & Humanities) Course Book

Computer Application subject of ‘Commerce stream’ students is divided into 11 units. The first three units introduce C++ program language. They are Review of C++ Programming, Arrays and Functions.

Unit 4&5 are about web technology. HTML language is introduced here. Chapters here are Web Technology and Web Designing using HTML.

The sixth unit is Java Script Programming and the seventh unit is about Web Hosting. Database Management System and SQL Programming are explained in the 8th and 9th units. The last 2 units of Computer Application Course book is ERP & Trends in ICT.

Computer Application subject of 'Humanities stream' students is divided into 10 units. The first three units introduce publishing & word processing tools. Unit 4 to 6 are web technology,HTML and CSS. The seventh unit is about web hosting. The 8th and 9th units are DBMS and SQL. The last chapter is Trends and Issues in ICT.

With the introduction of Information and Communication Technology, the pedagogical process at the Higher Secondary Education level is getting a novel shape as the innovative teaching aids would invigorate the transactional methods. The learner – centred and integrated methods are being implemented with the use of free software.

The Ubuntu operating system, customized by IT@school(KITE) for academic activities at school is known as edu ubuntu. The ICT enabled instructional methods in Higher Secondary classes are completely based on edu ubuntu.

Use of free software at Higher Secondary level

Now-a-days, the free software is being used as a major pedagogic tool in Computer Science, Computer Application and Accountancy classes. Moreover it makes the process of learning other subjects too more alluring and appreciable one.

C++, SQL,PHP in Computer Science and Computer Application subjects, GNU-Khata, libre office in Accountancy subject are made available in such a way that it can be functional in edu-ubuntu operating system. Substantially, edu-ubuntu operating system has become an inevitable one for the successful transaction of academic activities in Higher Secondary class rooms.

How to install Higher Secondary software ?

All software tools needed for the studying the subjects of Higher Secondary course are included in the ISO file given here. The help file given below would guide you how to install it and to install GNU-Khata, SQL, PHP etc. The downloading time of Edu–ubuntu of 4 GB depends upon the network speed.

GNU Khata 4.25 installation

GNU Khata accounting software for Higher Secondary School Commerce students is now available in the following link. You can install GNU Khata  software with the help of the instructions given here. 
Step 1: Right click on the downloaded file GNUKhata4.25_installer.tar.gz and select 'Extract here'.

Step 2: After extraction, check the newly created folder GNUKhata4.25_installer and double click on the file install.sh. select the Run in Terminal option.

Step 3: The system will ask the user to type system login password. Then accept the terms and press OK.

Step 4: After installation the GNU Khata software will appear on Application-> Office->GNU Khata
