NEST 2024-Application Form (Out), Exam Date, Eligibility, Pattern, Syllabus and Result

Applications are invited for admission test, National Entrance Screening Test 2024(NEST) for 5 year integrated M.Sc. programme in National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER), Bhubaneswar, University of Mumbai and Department of Atomic Energy, Centre for Excellence in Basic Sciences (UM-DAE-CEBS) Mumbai.

Eligibility

It is an online/computer based test for admission in M.Sc programme in Biology, Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Students studying in Plus two course in regular Science Stream (Physics, Chemistry, Maths, Biology combination) and to appear for board exam in 2024 or passed the exam in 2022 or 2023  can apply for it. Applicants must have scored minimum 60% of marks or equivalent grade. For SC & ST category and Persons with disability 55% is sufficient. 

Exam Pattern

The admission test is conducted to test the subject competencies, analytical ability, interpretation of graphical data, grasp of mathematics, comprehensive, qualitative and quantitative aspects of scientific passages etc. There would be five sections of objective type questions. The first one is general section of 30 marks. Section 2 to 5 would be for 50 marks each from subjects. The merit list will be prepared according to the score obtained in general section and best 3 subject sections ( sec. 2-5 ). A mock test link will be made available 2 weeks before the exam date. 

NEST 2024 Schedule & Fee

Online applications for admission test can be submitted from 20th March 2024 to 31st May. General and OBC students will have to pay fee Rs.1400/- and for SC, ST, PwD and all female applicants, it would be Rs.700/- only. Exam will be conducted in the major towns or cities on 30th June 2024. 

Scholarship

The students getting admission to this course would also get the privilege of becoming eligible for scholarship of Rs.60,000/- and also grant of Rs.20,000/- per annum for Summer internship. NEST 2024 Syllabus

The syllabus for NEST 2024 follows the rationalised science (Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics) syllabus of class XI–XII as per NCERT.
