Scholarship for Higher Education in Foreign Universities: How to Apply ?

State Welfare Department for the Minorities has invited applications from the minority students for higher studies with scholarship in the institutions and universities abroad. The scholarship can be availed of by students belonging to the religious minority group recognized by the central government such as Muslim, Christian, Sikh, Buddha, Parsi, Jain etc. The scholarship is given once only for higher studies. 

To get this privilege, the students of minority group should be a permanent resident of Kerala state and must possess bank account in their name in any of the nationalized banks.

The scholarship of students to the first 600 universities as per Times Higher Education World Ranking will be based on the family income.

The Times Higher Education World University Ranking is a ranking of the world’s top universities. It is compiled by the British company, Times Higher Education.In order to be included in the ranking, a university must have been ranked in the top 800 in one of four major international rankings: QS World University Rankings, THE-QS World University Rankings, Academic Ranking of World Universities and U.S. News & World Report Best Global Universities Rankings.

Scholarship for Higher Education in Foreign Universities: How to Apply ?

The Minority students who are interested in doing Medicine, Engineering, Pure Science, Agriculture, Social Science, Law and Management can apply for this. The applications should be addressed to the Director of the Welfare Department of Minorities, Forth Floor, Vikas Bhavan, Thiruvananthapuram- 33. February 14 is the last date to apply.

Documents required to Apply

The following documents/copy should been enclosed with the Application :(Self attestation required) 

  1.  Minority Certificate/Caste Certificate. 
  2. Ration Card 
  3. Passport
  4.  Income certificate. 
  5. A copy of Admission letter/Offer Letter from the foreign University 
  6. A signed testimonial (letter of recommendation) from the two referees mentioned above. 
  7. A short statement mentioning the academic achievements and distinctions and the foreign education plan and future goals. 
  8. A copy of IELTS/TOEFL/GRE/GMAT score (if any).
  9. Proof of Educational Qualification-degree certificates along with Mark-sheets(Consolidated mark list with Percentage) 
  10. A copy of SSC & HSC mark sheet & School Leaving Certificate 
  11. Proof of age. 
  12. Other supporting document
