Gandhi Smrithi - Clean Campus Safe Campus

Government is launching a wide reaching campaign aimed at arresting the rising prevalence of substance abuse among students namely " Clean campus Safe Campus" under the leadership of Home, Health and General Education departments.

The first phase of the campaign targets students upto standard 12.

To commemorate the birth anniversary of the Father of the Nation, " Clean campus Safe Campus" project is launching and organising a series of programmes during the Gandhi Jayanti-Gandhi Smrithi week. Follow the below link for school level activities and guidelines.

June 26 is the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking. Established by the United Nations General Assembly in 1987, this day serves as a reminder of the goals agreed to by Member States of creating an international society free of drug abuse.
We invite everyone to mark 26 June! It is a unique occasion to take a stand against a problem that affects us all....

Human Rights Day

Human Rights Day is observed on 10th December of every year,and is celebrated internationally.In order to spread human rights literacy among various sections of society and to promote awareness of the safeguards available for the protection of human rights,government propose to observe the day in all Government Departments,Educational Institutions etc: by taking human rights oath by all government servants. All Heads of Departments are requested to observe Human Rights Day on 10th December 2012 by taking human rights oath at 11 a.m in their offices.


World Aids Day

December 1, is observed globally as World AIDS Day. The day reminds us that HIV infection is still posing a serious threat to the human race and that the society has a lot to do in preventing HIV as well as in taking care of the infected.As part of observance of World AIDS Day on December 1st , it is directed to include a pledge and a talk on HIV in the assembly on all schools in the State on 1st December 2012. Resource Persons like Medical officer, Health Inspectors may be invited from the nearest PHC/CHC/ Taluk Hospitals for the talk on HIV.

Gandhi Jayanthi:Mass Cleaning Programmes

The Government is planning to launch a seven-day mass cleanliness drive with the slogan ‘God’s Own Country, a Clean Land,’as part of Gandhi Jayanthi from October 1.Mass cleaning programmes and awareness classes on various waste management techniques would be organised. Effective plans would be chalked out to streamline or integrate the sanitation drives of different departments. The cleaning programmes would be held in all schools,government offices and houses with the support from various departments, Kudumbasree and Suchitwa Mission workers, resident associations, and school authorities. At the initiative of civic bodies, students would be encouraged to take part in mass awareness programmes. They would remove plastic wastes from roads, hospital premises, and schools. The State-level inauguration of the drive would be on October 1. On the second day, school students would take part in various competitions. Films and documentaries on Mahatma Gandhi would also be screened. Planting of saplings, herbs, and vegetable gardens would also be taken up.

The event was established by the Governing Council of the United Nations Development Programme in 1989. It was inspired by the public interest in Five Billion Day on July 11, 1987, approximately the date on which the world's population reached five billion people.This year, the theme of World Population Day is “Universal Access to Reproductive Health Services”.

The United Nations stimulates worldwide awareness of the environment and enhances action through the Day, commemorated every year on June 5.Through this commemoration, the day aims to give a human face to environmental issues, and empower people to become active agents of sustainable and equitable development, besides promoting an understanding that communities are pivotal to changing attitudes towards environmental issues.The host for World Environment Day 2012 is the Federation Republic of Brazil. The theme is Green Economy: Does it include you?
