Restrictions on publicity for economic help to students

It has been commonly found that a public function is generally arranged while providing a helping hand in cash and in kind to the economically backward students. As it may affect the self esteem of the students and their mental development as well, Kerala Child Rights Protection Commission has published certain instructions to be followed as per section number 15 of child rights Protection Commission 2005.

It has been advised not to give any kind of publicity like posting advertisements with the deserving students photograph and name. Care should be given to protect the rights of children and at the same time fulfil the emerging needs of the students, not interfering with their freedom and privacy and hurting their feelings.

It has also been noticed that some welfare organisations and PTA used to distribute educational accessories like uniform to the students by conducting public meetings or after giving publicity to such events through advertisements.

Hence, the Assistant Director of Education, Assistant Director VHSE, Regional Deputy Director HSE, District and Sub District Educational officers, Principals, HMs are directed to ensure that there is no such publicity while extending a helping hand to the economically backward students.
