When to apply for Plus One admission?

Update: Online Submission of Applications For Plus One Admission in Merit Quota (Single Window System) commences on 9th May 2018. As soon as the results of 10th std students studying in State syllabus are published, the admission process would begin. A prospectus recognized by the govt would be published for this. Generally, it is done every year in the month of May.

Single Window Admission System(Ekajalakam)

Admission to Plus one classes in Govt and aided Higher Secondary Schools is done through Centralised Allotment Process called Single Window Admission(Ekajalakam). This allotment Process starts immediately after the publication of SSLC/10th standard results. Admission through this system is to procure the merit seats in Govt and aided Higher secondary schools. This is an endeavor to clear the doubts regarding plus one admission that are likely to arise among the students and parents.

How to submit application for Single Window Admission?

Applications should be submitted online for admission to Plus One in Higher Secondary schools in Kerala. The HSCAP portal is exclusively for this purpose. While applying online, the scores obtained in SSLC exam, Date of Birth, details of participation in club activities and other such data should be entered for availing of eligible grace marks.
The students should submit their Single Window Application online through Akshaya centres or Computer system with internet connection or govt or aided Higher Secondary schools in the state. The print out of the application generated after online submission of application along with Rs.25/-should be handed over for verification to any of the govt or aided Higher Secondary schools in the district concerned. If a student claims any other considerations not mentioned in the mark sheet, self attested copies of such certificates should be submitted along with the application. On receipt of application, an acknowledgement slip will be issued and it should be kept safely for further use/reference.

Is one application sufficient for all districts in Kerala?

It is sufficient to submit one application for schools in one district, whereas for admission to schools in other districts, a separate application to each district has to be given. Such applicants can either send their application by post to the principal of the school selected by them or hand over in person. List of district centres is given here. Application fee can be remitted by DD or in person. Go through the prospectus before submitting application. Things to be remembered at the time of online submission of application are clearly mentioned here.

  21. Many schools have different systems, you would have to tell us your school's grading scheme for weighted grades before we can analyze this.

That just is to say though, since there exist different systems no one cares about weighted grades. They really are just there to make parents and students feel better about their grades as far as I have noticed. When you apply to university, they want your raw GPA, not any weighted quantity. Do not think it is ok for a second to get Bs in honors/AP/IB classes, it makes you look worse than someone who gets As in regular classes. It reflects negatively on you in that it shows a skewed perception of your abilities, it shows you plateau'd all ready in that if you cannot get As in these classes how could do well in college (much harder) classes, and it indicates your decision making skills are questionable.Weighted GPA Calculator : If you get As in regular classes it shows you can excel but does not reveal to them your limitations like getting Bs in honors/AP/IB classes. I do not know why high school teachers and counselors tell students that it is ok, it definitely is not according to everything I have ever heard or experienced.
