National Talent Search Examination (NTSE)-2020

Students studying in 10th standard in any of government or aided or recognized institutions in Kerala or Central government or Navodaya schools or Sainik schools can apply for National Talent Search Examination ( NTSE ) at state level and the toppers can appear at the national level also. 

Eligibility for NTSE

Those who appear for 10th standard exam first time studying through open distance learning and under 18 years old can also apply for this. They should have scored a minimum 55 percentage of marks except languages in the 9th standard qualifying exam of 2019-20. 

NTSE Scholarship

Nearly 2000 scholarships at different phases await the meritorious ones, it is Rs.1250/ per month while studying in plus one and plus two classes and Rs. 2000/ at degree and PG degree level. At the Ph.D level, it will be as per UGC criteria. 

NTSE Pattern of Questions & Schedule 2020

The first phase State level exam will be on 13th December 2020. The duration will be of 120 minutes. Two objective type papers of hundred questions will be there. There is no negative marking. To qualify the test 40 percentage of marks is must and for SC category and physically handicapped, it is 32%. To test the mental ability, logical thinking, analytical ability of of the students, described and undescribed picture questions are included. To test the scholastic aptitude, questions from all chapters of Social Science, Mathematics and Science subjects of 9th standard and first and second term portion of 10th standard will be there for the first phase of exam.

How to apply for NTSE 2020

The application can be submitted online before 16th of November 2020 in the website scertkerala.gov.in​. Rs. 250/ towards application fee should be paid online. Students of SC category need pay rupees hundred only.

Higher Secondary Plus Two SAY & Improvement Results 2020

Update: Higher Secondary Plus Two SAY and Improvement Result 2020 published. Check Now !

The valuation of answer scripts of the Higher Secondary Plus Two, SAY and Improvement exam held in the second week of September 2020 is over. The result will be published on 28th October 2020 at 11.30am. 

The students who appeared for the plus two exam and got through the exam were given a chance to improve their score in any one of the subjects and those who have not cleared the exam got chance to appear for all the subjects. If there is any change in the score obtained in the Improvement exam, a new mark list with the new score will be issued. Also, the students passed SAY exam would get a new mark list. 

Moreover, there is a chance for revaluation in all subjects except Physics, Chemistry and Maths as these subjects have already gone through double valuation. The students who could not get through SAY exam, should do one time registration for the failed subjects as per the first year improvement exam notification. 

Thus they should appear for the Plus one Improvement exam and the following second year exam too in the subject concerned.

Which courses are eligible to be applied for Education loan? 

The graduation, post graduation, technical degree, technical diploma, professional degree, professional diploma courses conducted by UGC, AITCE, IMC and govt recognized colleges and universities. Regular degrees and diploma courses of autonomous institutions like IIT, IIM etc Central govt recognized teacher training and nursing courses. Regular degree or diploma courses like aeronautical, pilot training, shipping recognized by the Director General of Civil Aviation, Director General of Shipping etc. 

What are the purposes served by this loan? 

This loan facility is to provide financial aid to the students for their higher studies. Moderate rate of interest, interest subsidy and processing are its major attractions. 

Who are eligible to apply? 

The students should have qualified the entrance exam for professional and technical courses. In the case of courses abroad, the admission must be confirmed in universities or colleges. 

What the courses abroad? 

MCA, MBA, MS and such job oriented professional technical graduation courses conducted by the reputed universities abroad, post graduation courses Chartered Institute of Management Accounts in London, Certified Public Accounts in America 

What about the fee details and expenses covered? 

(a) hostel fee. The students arranging self accommodation should get their expenses certified by the authority concerned. 
(b) exam fee, library fee and lab fee 
(c) for books, uniform, instruments, computer and other such accessories. 
(d) study tour, project work, thesis submission etc. But it should not exceed 20% of course fee 
(e) for buying two wheelers and getting insurance premium in the name of the applicant 

What is the maximum amount of Education loan admitted? 

For studies in India, maximum of Rs.10 lakh and for abroad, Rs.20 lakh. 

Will it cover entire study expenses? 

For a loan amount upto Rs.4 lakh, there is no margin money and the entire amount of expenses met by the students will be allotted. For a loan amount above Rs.4 lakh, the applicant have to meet 5% and 15% of the expenses in India and abroad respectively. 

Is there any security needed for Education loan approval? 

There is no need of any security for an amount up to 7.5 lakh where as either of the parent should be the co-applicant. For approving a loan amount exceeding 7.5 lakh, apart from co-obligation of the parents, a security, equal to that amount is needed. In the case of ‘married’, either the partner of parents’ partner can be the co-applicant. 

What would be accepted as security? 

Assets, buildings, govt securities, Public Sector bond, National Savings Certificate, Kissan Vikas bond, LIC policy, gold shares, shop agreements, fixed deposits in banks etc. 

What is the loan procedure? 

The applications are considered for approval by the branch in the residential area of the applicant. Now a days, it is mandatory to apply through the Vidyalakshmi Portal. The loan amount will be distributed in terms to the educational institutions. If the applicant has self- remitted the course fee or any such, it can be claimed for reimbursement within months and the amount would be credited directly to the applicant by the bank. 

What is the time limit for repayment of Education loan? 

The repayment period of the loan usually starts a maximum of one year after the completion of the course and it should be completed on time. The bank may extend the repayment period up to 2 years. During the moratorium period and repayment holiday, EMI is fixed for the interest along with the capital amount. 

What is top up loan? 

If the applicant gets admission for another course during the moratorium period of the first loan, top up loan can be availed of. The repayment period of both the loans would start, one year after the completion of both the courses. 

Is there any subsidy available for the interest? 

The Central govt would take over the interest till the repayment period starts after course completion for the economically weaker section. It should be made clear regarding how the subsidy is given by the banks, before availing of loan. This subsidy under Central sector interest subsidy scheme is available for loans from scheduled banks. The income of parents should not exceed Rs.4.5 lakh. District Merit Scholarship Scheme-How to Apply ?

Online Fresh and Renewal applications are invited from the students who passed with A+ grade to all subjects in SSLC examinations in March 2020 for the District Merit Scholarship 2020-21. Applications are to be submitted online in the scholarship website of Department of Collegiate Education, www.dcescholarship.kerala.gov.in. The eligible candidates will be awarded Rs.1250/- and a merit certificate. Last date for fresh and renewal application is 01.12.2020. Follow the below links for online application guidelines.

SCERT & NCERT Digital Text Books for Higher Secondary Students

The text books for the Higher Secondary First and Second year students are now available in digital format. In the changing scenario of present day, as the class rooms becoming hi tech, it becomes necessary to adopt similar changes in the case of text books also. SCERT/NCERT text books are followed in the State syllabus. While the SCERT books are prescribed for some subjects, NCERT books are followed for certain other subjects.

As the class rooms have been elevated to hi tech level, it is also possible to provide visual presentation of text books in class rooms. LCD projector, lap top etc are now available for this purpose. Moreover, SAMAGRA portal is created to share study materials. Higher Secondary first and Second year text books can be downloaded in PDF format for the teachers and the students.

Higher Secondary Plus one/Plus Two Social Work Study Notes

There are mainly three subject combinations, Science Commerce and Humanities at the Higher Secondary level. The students can select their option from many of the subjects available for their study in Humanities group. One such option is Social Work.
